Under the UGC–DEB framework, Online Master in Library Science programs are officially recognized and approved. To get admission to an online master in library science program,candidates must have a graduation degree with at least 50 marks, Students from reserved categories may be admitted with lower marks as per applicable norms. Many institutions also prefer or require candidates to have a Bachelor of Library Science (B.Lib.Sc) degree. No entrance examination is required, and admission is based on eligibility criteria and academic performance.

After completing an Online Master in Library Science, graduates can pursue careers as a Librarian, Library Software Developer, Assistant Professor, Content Manager, Information Analyst, or Archivist. The value and recognition of an Online Master in Library Science degree are equivalent to a regular Master in Library Science degree.
